Giới thiệu về Glacier Calving | 15 Amazing Collapses, Tsunami Waves and Icebergs

Compilation of our most spectacular glacier calving and iceberg collapse videos! Huge chunks of ice (sometimes measuring more than 100 meters / 300 ft. in height over the water surface and hundreds of meters below) breaking off the glaciers and falling into the oceans can create tsunami-like waves, cause big icebergs to flip over or “shoot up”. Glaciers and icebergs are melting in Greenland, Alaska, Argentina, Antarctica and all around the world – creating incredible spectacles for those lucky enough to be at the right place at the right time. More than 15 of these breathtaking glacier calving events are included in this montage. Of course all clips included are left with their original audio tracks; without music being added, you can listen to the cracking and melting of these ice giants.

Glacier calving, also known as ice calving, or iceberg calving, is the breaking of ice chunks from the edge of a glacier. It is the sudden release and breaking away of a mass of ice from a glacier, iceberg, ice front, ice shelf, or crevasse. The ice that breaks away can be classified as an iceberg, but may also be a growler, bergy bit, or a crevasse wall breakaway. The entry of the ice into the water causes large, and often hazardous waves. The waves formed in locations like Johns Hopkins Glacier can be so large that boats cannot approach closer than 3 kilometres. These events have become major tourist attractions. Many glaciers terminate at oceans or freshwater lakes which results naturally with the calving of large numbers of icebergs. Calving of Greenland’s glaciers produce 12,000 to 15,000 icebergs each year alone (Find out more here:

Greenland is home to the only permanent ice sheet outside Antarctica. The sheet covers 3/4 of Greenland’s land mass. But in the last 25 years, the Greenland Ice Sheet is rapidly melting, having lost 3.8 trillion tons of ice between 1992 and 2018, a new study from NASA and the European Space Agency (ESA) finds. The melting ice has added 11 mm / 0.4 inches to sea level rise. Its cumulative 3.8 trillion tons of melted ice is equivalent to adding the water from 120 million Olympic-size swimming pools to the ocean every year (Find out more here:

The ice field of the Glacier Perito Moreno is the world’s third largest reserve of fresh water. In the right time of the year big blocks of ice break off the glacier and drop into the water. The waves created by such glacier calving events often splash dozens of meters through the air. The glacier is one of Argentina’s most beautiful natural wonders, the colors and shapes of the ice remind of a piece of art of Gaudi. The glacier itself is about 5 km (3.1 mi) wide and has an average height of 74 m (240 ft) above the surface of the water.

Im no scientist but people say the ice is melting and use this to prove that but what’s the difference between this and when rocks fall off a mountain? Are the rocks melting too😂. Genuinely curious.

This is all historical bullsh**. Go watch the YouTube channel universal model. "250k years for a this much snow to accumulate"? That much snow accumulated in my home depot parking lot last week. Lies, g. Warming lies. You watch they'll start censoring the truth about "g. Warming" lies too

  4. Susan F. A. Kerr says:

Why not just tell us what is going to happen, let us see it happening, and then give us the lecture. The print covers the event so that we can't see but a smidgen of the event. Poor show. Obviously done by an amateur.

  5. A.P says:

There is no reliable evidence for global warming. Air temperature has been recorded for nearly a century. while the earth has millions of years. For example: one cannot conclude from a sunny day in winter that we have a warm winter ahead of us

  6. Dick Fitswell says:

I hope people realize this is literally gravity at work. New snow and ice get added all day long and the weight of the new stuff causes breakdowns and as the glacier gets heavier it starts to slide and in this case it slides into the ocean and each melted piece will eventually get evaporated and fall again and quite possibly at the top of the glacier thus completing the ice cycle. If the earth was actually cooling and at the "point of no return" then the glacier would start melting and calving would be non existent. Calving is Earth's way of showing us how healthy she is. That's a fact and it's not arguable. Next time someone tells you something about climate change, make note that it's something you can't see or prove. It's always something only THEY can find. Like co2 at dangerous levels. Not many people can take a Gas meter into the sky and check themselves and find 450ppm co2. But some can and supposedly at 5,000 feet elevation we are supposed to have 40ppm CO2. Well over Houston we don't. I got 4ppm on a windless day and I was using a calibrated 4 gas meter mounted to my paramotor.
